Children Of The Damp

Welcome to the BLACK DAMP Children Of The Damp website. BLACK DAMP is an original 3-piece band from Lafayette, Indiana that combines rock, metal, and punk to create a unique sound. "KILLING POP MUSIC ONE FAN AT A TIME" is our musical mission. Imagine combining the sounds of Black Sabbath, The Ramones, and The Queens Of The Stone Age and you can begin to understand how we intend to accomplish our mission.

We are primarily an original rock band and are always creating and performing new material exploring rock and roll's many subgenres. We do rotate covers from Soft Cell, The Misfits, The Violent Femmes, The Clash, The Kinks, Danzig, and Black Sabbath in our live set lists for the uninitiated. We have recorded a 3 song demo entitled "Black Damp", a 5 song EP entitled "Building A Demo", and an 8 song album entitled "Building A Head". These should be available at most shows.

BLACK DAMP was formed in April of 2002. Our first single, "Pornography", received airplay in Fort Wayne, Indiana on X102.3 FM's local music spotlight in 2003. We took 4th place in the Center Stage Concert Series Battle of the Bands competition in Lafayette, Indiana in 2004. We had a very positive live show review published in the Tipp-C Arts & Entertainmanet Guide in Lafayette, Indiana in early 2005. Our second single, "Peppermint", was selected to appear on a compilation CD for Selective Hearing Records in Indianapolis, Indiana in late 2005. The BLACK DAMP song "Building A Head" was selected to appear on a free downloadable compilation CD from the Lafayette Music League (http://www.thirdleg.net/compilation/) in late 2005 as well. BLACK DAMP headlined the Lafayette Music League's inaugural Hard N Heavy Show in January of 2006 (http://www.myspace.com/lmlhardnheavy). We have also joined MySpace.com (http://www.myspace.com/childrenofthedamp).
